Daily Instruction & Schedule

Overview

Kindergarten:
All kindergarten students attend our full-day program.

• Morning Meeting: Consists of daily sessions dedicated to social-emotional learning.
• Reading & Writing: Emphasize foundational literacy through explicit phonemic and phonics instruction, complemented by daily reader's and writer’s workshops.
• Math: Engages students with the hands-on Eureka Math program, making math learning both fun and meaningful.
• Daily Centers: Involve activities and hands-on manipulatives to foster student-led learning and exploration.
• Science & Social Studies: Our integrated curriculum experiential learning experiences aligned with Ohio's social studies and science standards.

Grades 1 & 2:

• Reading and Writing Workshop: 45-minutes to 1 hour per day, which includes mini-lessons and time to work independently and in small groups.
• Phonics: Explicit phonics instruction for up to 30 minutes per day.
• Math: At least 60 minutes per day.
• Science and Social Studies: Our science and social studies curriculum features hands-on, experiential learning aligned to the Ohio learning standards. Lessons are integrated into English language arts and math.

Unified Arts: 

• Physical Education, Music, Art, World Language, and Technology: Each subject is part of a daily rotation, each receiving 55 minutes of focus per week.
• Library: Weekly, check-in and check-out system for students to explore new literature
